Energy Efficient Windows

Energy efficient windows not only will save you up to 15% of your heating/cooling cost but will also protect your furniture, carpet and curtains from damaging sun effects. Low Emission coating (Low E) suppresses infrared and ultraviolet radiation. |
How Does It Work
Low E glass is the main component of energy efficient windows. Microscopically thin layer of metal or metallic oxide is applied to the glazing surface of the glass. Coated surface, then installed facing the gap between glass panes. This process allows blocking a significant amount of radiant heat transfer, thus lowering the total heat flow through the window. Low-E coatings are transparent to visible light. Different types of Low-E coatings have been designed to allow for high solar gain, moderate solar gain, or low solar gain. You can get even greater thermal performance with the addition of argon gas to our standard, dual-pane, Low-E insulating glass.
Windows can account for up to 30% of the annual energy consumed in a home. In the summer, Low-E keeps your home cool and comfortable by rejecting the sun's heat and damaging rays. In the winter, Low-E helps your home stay warm and cozy by blocking heat loss to the cold weather outside.
Heating and Cooling Energy Savings* (Percentage of dollars saved over ordinary glass. Savings by market.)

* Total energy costs (heating + cooling) comparing clear 2-pane glass to Low-E, for a house with 15% window-to-wall ratio uniformly distributed on all four sides of the house. The actual savings can vary due to thermostat settings, use of drapes and blinds, and other lifestyle attributes.
